An Advance Parole request allows eligible noncitizens to travel outside the United States and return lawfully while an immigration application is pending. Traveling without approved advance parole may result in abandonment of the underlying application.
The request is filed using Form I-131 with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Approval authorizes temporary international travel for a specific period, subject to inspection upon reentry.
