Affidavit of Support

Affidavit of Support

The Affidavit of Support is a required immigration document used to demonstrate that an intending immigrant has adequate financial support and is not likely to become a public charge. It is most commonly required in family-based immigration cases and certain employment-based cases where a qualifying sponsor is involved.

The affidavit is filed using Form I-864 (and related forms, if applicable) with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The sponsor must meet specific income or asset requirements and provide supporting financial documentation. Proper completion and accurate financial evidence are essential to avoid delays, requests for evidence, or case denial.
